Psychology of fear

Since my childhood, I've always been very fond of paranormal, gothic or horror flicks. Eerie Silence (Or eerie background music in movies), darkness of twilight, stranded house interest me. It’s not that they scare me (Unfortunately, not a single horror movie has managed to scare me) but some of them seemed really engrossing.

But sometimes I wonder why in every horror movies protagonists are alone in a marooned house? Why ghosts always scare at night? Why they don’t try to scare people in a crowd and in a bright morning?

Suppose you are walking alone at eerie night in your big house. Your heart pounding due to surging fear. Desperately wanting to run away from that location and then suddenly, your grandma calls you from her room. Or you hear your aunt talking and chuckling. What would you feel? You will definitely feel relaxed.

Have you ever felt someone’s existence walking behind you at night? You might have dreamt something and got scared at night. Why thatsignificant scary dream seems trivial when you wake up in the morning?

What is the psychology of fear? Darkness? Loneliness? Silence? We basically fear of darkness, loneliness and silence, not any ghost. That’s why people always get scared in stranded, eerie houses or places at night. Ghost resides in our fear. We definitely feel nervous walking alone in a stranded house at night but never get scared while talking to someone or surrounded by people (No matter day or night). That’s why our fearrecedes from our heart with bright light of morning.
